Online Fake Data Generator - Create Test Data

Why use fake data in development?

Using real data in development and testing is a problem: it breaches privacy rules such as GDPR, it exposes sensitive information in logs and development databases, and it limits testing to whatever data already exists. Fake data solves all three: it is realistic in shape but entirely fictional. You can generate thousands of test users with no legal exposure, exercise edge cases such as very long names or special characters, and share development databases without leaking anything. It is standard practice in professional development.

The data types generated and how realistic they are

This tool generates several data types in a realistic shape. Names combine common first names and surnames. Emails use a valid user@domain form with fictional domains. Phone numbers follow the correct national format. Addresses use plausible streets, numbers, cities and valid postal codes. Company names are believable corporate constructions. National ID numbers use a valid format with a correct check letter, though the underlying numbers were never issued. Dates come from configurable ranges. Everything passes format validation while corresponding to no real person or entity.

Use cases in development and QA

Fake data is essential for populating development databases so you can see the UI with realistic content, load testing with realistic record volumes, client demos that expose no production data, form testing that exercises every field, screenshots and documentation that look presentable, import and export testing, verifying that reports and dashboards behave with varied data, and onboarding new team members without granting production access. The key is that the data is realistic enough to reveal formatting and rendering bugs.

If you work with this tool, you will probably also find these useful CSV to JSON, JSON to CSV, UUID Generator, Password Generator.

Frequently asked questions

Could the generated data match a real person?

It is statistically possible but unlikely. Names are combined at random from common lists, emails use fictional domains such as example.com, and identity numbers come from unassigned ranges or carry deliberately invalid combinations. Never use this data for impersonation or fraud, which would be illegal regardless of whether it happens to match someone real.

Can I generate data for other languages or countries?

This tool is tuned for Spanish and Spain-specific formats. For other countries, look for a localised generator or a library such as Faker.js, which supports many locales with German names, French addresses and so on. Phone number, national ID and postal code formats vary considerably from country to country.

Are the generated ID numbers valid?

The format is correct and the check letter is computed with the official algorithm. The base numbers, however, do not correspond to identity documents that were ever issued. They are useful for testing format validation but would fail verification against an official register.

Can I export the generated data?

Yes, you can copy the generated data as JSON or plain text. For large volumes or specific formats such as CSV or SQL inserts, consider a command line tool like Faker CLI, or wire a library such as Faker.js directly into your database seed scripts.
